Reflection: A Look Over My Life

Writer's picture: KhiKhi

As I reflect on my 2019 and this past decade, I can’t stop to think about a Word that I recently heard. I can’t remember the source, but I remember the seed. The speaker referenced the story about David and Goliath with an emphasis on the David’s method to be victorious over his opponent—THE SLINGSHOT, a small weapon that’s deadly if used properly! To effectively use a slingshot there must be a backward pull and tension, building up energy. When the tension is released that stored energy forcefully propels the object forward. This example of the slingshot was likened to life when we have adversity and setbacks. We are not to look at adversity or setbacks as an end, but as a propellant for our future endeavors and assignments. A perspective change is required in how we view our experiences, especially as we go through them. The slingshot was only effective from that backward pull, so when times come that seem like a setback or “taking steps backwards” look at it as God preparing to propel you to breakthrough whatever situation lies before you.

Now as I look back over 2019 and the last 10 years of my life with a new perspective, I can truly say I AM THANKFUL! Thankful for life, thankful for growth, and thankful that God gave me another day and saw me fit to carry out the assignment He has given me. No, these past years have not been easy, but they definitely have caused me to grow spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. I may not be where I ultimately want to be, but I am exactly where God needs me to be. Despite the hardship and setbacks, I had some great accomplishments and experiences. Although I am still being pulled back, I know the release is going to blow my mind. I’m excited for 2020 and all that it has. Thank you 2010’s for the lessons and the molding. Cheers to the struggle, though they pulled me back they did not hold me back. They’re just going to propel me for where I am supposed to be!

As you go throughout this year, remember your adversities pull you back to propel you towards your assignments! The setback is just a setup! Keep going and remain steadfast!

Peace & Love
